(Kylie's full story from transcript)
Hi, my name is Kylie, and I graduated from TPS in 2019, and I had the most amazing experience there, and I would love to share it.
Some of my favorite teachers first off that really have paved the way for me in many different ways of my life, um, were Mr. Duran. I loved his philosophy class. I loved it so much. It gave me a A greater view of the world and taught me how to ask questions um about my beliefs and about others' beliefs and really hone into deeper meanings of things.
I also loved Mr. Resh and his government and econ class and he was just amazing and really helped teach us all about economics and how to lead a strong economic life.
The book Rich Dad Poor Dad really stood out to me, and I still look into that and other um books by that same author today to help me in investments, and um I really look up to Mr. Resh for those things. Another teacher that really, really stood out to me and that I loved so much was Mr. Litt in PE.
He was always An encouragement when I was running that mile and actually led me into becoming a PE teacher. Also, Miss Barbara did as well. I interned with her at TPS a couple years back, and I loved it so much and I loved PE so much um and my experience with those two teachers that I decided to become a PE teacher as well. So I graduated from college with my bachelor's in kinesiology, (which is kind of like sports medicine) back in 2023, and then I immediately went straight into teaching PE for a year and a half, and I actually loved teaching PE so much that I wanted to become a classroom teacher and I really looked up to all my classroom teachers in my life, and now I know how hard it is to be one.
I started to pursue my master's degree in 2024 and completed it in a year and graduated actually this January 2025 with my master's in elementary education.
I was able to take over for a grade class in February a few months ago, and I've been teaching fifth grade ever since and I'm going into this new school year as a full-time 5th grade teacher and looking to clear my preliminary credentials. So I have been on the path of education.
Now, I never really thought I would. I come from a background of educators. My dad is a principal in Temecula Valley, and my mom is a teacher as well, so I never really thought I would ever be a teacher, but PE really just grew my love for teaching children, so I just love it so much. So those are some teachers and the experiences I've gained from them and why I chose to be a teacher.
And now, I want to talk a little bit about the closeness of friendships and other people... lifelong friendships I've made through TPS. TPS is obviously a very tight knit, tiny school.
There were about 75 students in my graduating class, and I am still great friends with a lot of them to this day. TPS has helped me develop friendships that will last forever.
I really cherish my time at TPS, and I always look back with such nostalgia, remembering the senior lawn, remembering the sports and driving and carpooling to sports. I was on the cheer team and that really drew me out of my comfort zone. I was very shy and that drew me out. I was able to become cheer captain and just really take on that leadership responsibility and role which changed my life. I was also on the track team and that gave me some other amazing lifelong friends!
I've really been blessed by Temecula Prep and the all-round community. I still go back and visit teachers, and they recognize me and I've gained a lot of opportunity through them. I actually went back to coach cheer there for a season, and I also did an internship with Megan Barber as well, so I still have some connections there!
I love Temecula Prep so much that I will always go back and visit...
I hope that this is an inspirational video for many more students to come!
